MOTLEY CRUE “THE FINAL TOUR” – CONCERT REVIEW

Motley Crue dropped by Fresno, California’s Save Mart Center for their Final Tour, energetic and confident as ever. The arena was packed with fans who on were on their feet throughout the entire show. The set list was saturated with classic tunes that everyone in the audience knew by heart and accompanied by enough pyrotechnics to leave the attendees in awe. Alice Cooper was the perfect opener leading into the main performance as he was armed with plenty of props and gimmicks to use for each song.

Cooper began his set playing Black Widow as he stood menacingly draped in a black cloak while the crowd gazed, overwhelmed with excitement. Afterwards, he rang out a string of his most popular tracks from I’m Eighteen to Under My Wheels and Poison.

He also put on quite a spectacle for particular tunes such as The Ballad of Dwight Fry where he sang, hunched over in a straight jacket while a maniacal nurse stood over him in dominance, before Alice tried to strangle her and was captured, strapped to a table and prepared for execution. Other highlights included Feed My Frankenstein with a giant, mechanical Frankenstein monster running around on stage singing the lyrics.

Alice Cooper and Co. were packed with entertainment and had everybody warmed up for the headlining act, which would take the stage antics to whole other level.

Motley Crue emerged on the stage with an array of enthusiasm. Vince Neil fronted the band proudly with some killer pipes, skipping a few lyrics here and there, but not enough to hurt the overall performance. Nikki Sixx was equipped with a flamethrower installed inside his bass guitar and a backing vocal microphone stand with a cattle brand attached onto it with a satanic star depicted. Mick Mars lit up the stage with his unique guitar tone ringing in our ears. Tommy Lee was positioned on a platform above the band playing superbly often surrounded by a sheet of fog.

The band was firing on all cylinders and didn’t show one bit of age throughout the entire show. One factor that many die hard fans, who’ve seen Crue a dozen times, can consider an upgrade among their other tours is the pyrotechnics. Flames were blasting out in different areas and different colors constantly, making for a memorable live experience.

One of the highlights from Crue‘s performance was Lee’s unbelievable drum solo segment, most of which isn’t taking place on the stage. His drum kit was attached to a roller coaster-like contraption which carried him from the stage towards the audience while rotating upside down above the audience. Truly an amazing sight to see in person.

Finally, Motley Crue reached the climax of the concert by playing Kickstart My Heart in a fashion you haven’t seen before. Vince Neil and Nikki Sixx enter a crane mechanism that transports both members from the stage to all across the seats including the back of the arena. Meanwhile Mick Mars and Tommy Lee were on their own individual platforms being lifted straight upward as confetti rained from the air and a humongous satanic star burned on the wall behind them.

Just as they said their goodbyes and walked off stage, they resurfaced within the audience and were escorted to a platform behind the mixing board where a piano was located and they began chiming into Home Sweet Home as the closer.

Motley Crue left an incredible impression among everyone and had us feeling gifted to have witnessed the last effort that they’ll bring on the road.
