2017: A BRIGHT FUTURE AHEAD OF US…

After an outstanding year of rock and metal releases, there is only more to look to forward to.

2016 brought every type of album to our doorstep from The Rolling Stones to Megadeth and it goes to show that they’re only growing hungrier for new material. Therefore, it’s to our mutual benefit that many bands scheduled their albums and tour dates for 2017.

And that leaves plenty of room for great music in the next few months. So, mark your calendars because this is what you can expect in 2017…

To kick-start this year’s fresh batch of releases, January is a goldmine for extreme metal and fans and glam rockers. On the 13th, Sepultura returned with a new album, Machine Messiah, after the longest hiatus in their 30+ year career.

The 27th, as of right now, is one of the biggest launch days of the year. The kings of The Big Teutonic 4, Kreator are delivering their studio effort titled Gods Of Violence along with Krokus‘s Big Rocks.

Stephen Pearcy is continuing his solo career after putting out Smash, capitalizing on the buzz stirred from the recent Ratt reunion. Jack Russell’s Great White will release their debut album, He Saw It Comin’, producing their first set of original songs.

In February, Overkill are launching their eighteenth studio album, The Grinding Wheel. Although they are considered underrated with little publicity, this 5-man-army have soldiered on as one of thrash’s strongest groups and continue to outdo themselves all these years later. Antichrist superstar Marilyn Manson is scheduled for another release, SAY10, but all the details have yet to come out.

Ex- Iron Maiden singer Blaze Bayley is also resuming his solo career with Endure and Survive. Havok, a 21st century thrash metal outfit who are quickly paving the way for the New Wave Of Thrash Metal, are set for a new album called Conformicide.

Florida death metal legends, Obituary just uploaded their latest single and announced an album for March.

Even the heavy metal inventors themselves, Deep Purple are going to come out with material from their upcoming record, Infinite in April.

In addition to all the fresh releases on their way from all walks of rock and metal, there’s also an extraordinary list of bands touring extensively throughout the year.

Black Sabbath and Aerosmith will both be closing the curtain on their careers. Sabbath will be playing their final dates in the birthplace of the band and heavy metal itself, Birmingham. On the other hand, Aerosmith will just be starting their tour in 2017 and could still be on the road in 2021 according to guitarist Brad Whitford.

Iron Maiden confirmed a U.S. tour in the summer, coming off of their multinational Book Of Souls datesGhost will be supporting them throughout the states along with Exodus and Kamelot for a single show in San Bernardino.

As a whole, it looks like we’re in for another great year. Thrash and rock fans alike can count on 2017 for delivering plenty of new music to us in the months to come…
