The Second Annual Ride For Ronnie James Dio took place yesterday in Glendale, CA where various rock icons brought a heartfelt tribute to the man on the silver mountain.
Many fans and artists gathered to support the RJD Cancer Fund including cast members from Son Of Anarchy: Emilio Rivera, Michael Beach and Sean McNabb.
Before the event even started, dozens of bikes swarmed the streets and soon all the riders, Wendy Dio being one of them, entered the Los Encinos State Historic Park. The afternoon continued with incredible performances by Gabbie Rae, Dio Disciples with Tim “Ripper” Owens, Lita Ford and Great White, covering a string of original songs as well as material from Dio’s catalog.
Meanwhile, a wide selection of merchandise from CD bundles to autographed guitars were being auctioned in between sets.
All the while, sales from ticket prices and the vendors went directly towards the Dio Cancer Fund. It’s great to hear that the entire concert was organized for further research and education on cancer treatment. Once Great White completed their set, Wendy Dio thanked every participant for attending and supporting the bands who came out of respect for a legendary frontman.
Overall, it was an entertaining day to watch strong contributors of RJD promote a headbanging show while also financing for a good cause.
