IS THIS THE END OF AC/DC?

Long-running front man of AC/DC, Brian Johnson has been under examination after a doctor’s notice informed him that his hearing is beginning to effect his stage performances.

AC/DC has been undergoing their Rock Or Bust World Tour and still has a string of scheduled dates in the balance at the moment.

A few days after this incident was reported, comedian Jim Breuer weighed in on the subject by making his own inferences on his podcast, “The Metal In Me.” He stated that Johnson believed he was being “kicked to the curb” by AC/DC after the band has remained quiet and unresponsive despite the unknown condition of their lifelong singer.

However these allegations were perceived to be said by Johnson himself which was not the case. This resulted in Breuer posting clarification messages on his Facebook and releasing a video where he set the record straight. Breuer then stated:

“(Johnson) said that he called and let (AC/DC and Angus Young) know, ‘Hey, this is what the doctor said, but let’s try to figure this out. I don’t think it’s as bad as he said it is.’ Literally the next day in the press, it was ‘Brian Johnson, tour canceled, he’s losing his hearing.'”

Now that all the information has been made clear, it leaves an interesting question to ponder. Should AC/DC continue without Johnson?

It’s important to remember that Johnson has been fronting the band since their comeback success in 1980 with Back In Black. He has since fronted AC/DC across the world on various tours for 36 years. He’s also proven to be the only person eligible to fulfill the legacy of the late Bon Scott with great respect and approval.

That being said, a replacement vocalist would be just as questionable as it would’ve been back in 1980.

Many singers can pull off the AC/DC catalog successfully, but will fans be open to a newcomer at this point in the tour?

Another factor worth considering is the fact that Angus Young hasn’t had the pleasure of sharing the stage with his brother, Malcolm Young any longer since his retirement. If he was able to carry on without a family member, perhaps he can play without Johnson as well.

Although, some fans have already realized this and figured that AC/DC should come to an end altogether if the band requires yet another lineup change. However, nothing has been confirmed or properly announced besides Johnson‘s hearing malfunctions.

It’s a shame all of this news has come out so rapidly, effectively hurting the infamous status of AC/DC, a band that seemed like an impenetrable powerhouse weeks prior.
