The world has been patiently waiting at the edge of their seats for anything John Sykes had in store after 17 years since his incredible live album. The new single is well worth the wait.
Right away, fans will recognize the Sykes tone that many bands had the honor of implementing. Admittingly, I wasn’t expecting an aggressive chugging intro before the main riff brings us back to the melodic Blue Murder sound complete with Syke’s impressive voice. The single fulfills its purpose as a proper introduction to his welcomed presence in the new year.
As for the lyrical content, Sykes provides relevant commentary to our current time. Staying topical in the modern era, there is full scale skepticism on The Great Reset as well as insulations of The World Economic Forum. There is plenty of thought provoking themes and perfect for a rock anthem.
2021 is already looking bright thanks to Sykes and his emergence from the shadows.
